Westmoreland was a very early manufacturer of carnival glass beginning production as early as 1908. This early date would place Westmoreland in direct confrontation to the claim of those authors and collectors who have stated that the Fenton Art Glass Company was the first 20th century glass company to produce carnival glass which appears to have also started in 1908. Westmoreland produced carnival glass in the early West Period from the 1900s through the 1920s and then it appears that the company did not produce carnival glass again until the 1970s and 1980s. Westmoreland produced carnival glass on special order from Gary and Dodi Levi who founded the Levay
