The Westmoreland Glass Society, Inc., Spring Convention will be held April 4-6, 2013 at the Ramada Inn North, 3281 Northfield Drive, I-55 exit 100, Dirksen Parkway, Springfield, Illinois 62702-1400.  You need to be a member to attend the show which includes seminars and room sales.  A get-together will be held at the home of Rob Rister, President of the WGSI.  There is also a glass show at the Illinois state fairgrounds that is hosted by the local glass club.

The Rocky Mountain Depression Glass Society will be holding its 39th Annual Show and Sale on April 27and 28, 2013.  The show will be held at the Douglas County Events Center, 500 Fairgrounds Road, Castlerock, Colorado. The Douglas County Events Center can be located off of Interstate 25 and Plum Creek Parkway, which is Exit 181. Harold V. Mayes, 85, a lifelong resident of the Kansas City, MO area passed away on January 18, 2013. Visitation will be from Noon – 1 pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 with the funeral to follow at 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harvesters. Harold was born on March 14, 1927 in Kansas City, MO. He was the son of Ralph H. and Edith M. (Warder) Mayes. Harold served in the United States Navy at the end of WWII and during the Korean War. He married Doris E. Carll on September 16, 1950 in Litchfield, IL. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Harold worked for many years as a Buyer for Kenworth Truck Company. He was active and held offices in Westmoreland Glass Society and the Heart of America Carnival Glass Society. He was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. Harold enjoyed gardening and grew Amaryllis in the home. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Mayes of Independence, MO; daughters, Laura Mayes Staehle and husband Ken of Prairie Village, KS; and Susan Mayes of Kansas City, MO; brother, Raymond Mayes of Warrensburg, MO; nieces, Trudy Barker and husband John and Jenny Grote and husband Wulf.
