Early Carnival Glass
Carnival Glass was produced by Westmoreland as early as 1907 and then until at least 1927. In 1982, noted glass researcher and author William Heacock pointed out that "A 1908 (Butler Bros., Westmoreland) assortment...shows an 'antique iridescent' group of items described as 'something entirely different.' Indeed this is the very FIRST example of carnival glass to ever appear in ANY of the BB catalogues of record." If carnival glass was available in 1908, then it had to have been first made in 1907, after the summer break per Westmoreland author Charles West Wilson in his book Westmoreland Glass, p.153. Westmoreland was the only company selling its carnival glass in 1908 in Butler Brothers while several companies began selling their carnival through Butler Brothers by 1910. Carnival glass was reintroduced in 1976 and was produced until the company closed in 1984. This album displays early Westmoreland carnival that was produced from 1907-1927. 10 Picture(s), last one added on 1/28/2013 1:16
