The iconic actor Charles "Charlie" Chaplin was immortalized by the West Brothers in this candy container.   The application for the patent was filed on behalf of George Semler on July 13, 1915 and was granted on November 9, 1915.  It was assigned patent number 48131-1.  1915 is the same year that the short film "The Tramp" starring Chaplin was released.
