NWGCC News : Chuck Wolfe (1947-2014)

Charles "CJ" Wolfe Jr., 67, of Jeannette, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Jan. 28, 1947, in Biloxi, Miss., a son of the late Charles J. Wolfe Sr. and Ella Uhring Wolfe. Prior to his retirement, CJ was employed by the Elliott Co. of Jeannette for 36 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette, a former union representative for Steelworkers No. 1145 and the former treasurer of the Elliott Federal Credit Union. CJ was an avid collector of glass from the former Westmoreland Glass Co. and had a passion for playing the organ. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan C. Vogel Wolfe; a daughter, Jennifer Stokes Taylor and husband, Dean, of Murrysville; a son, Lloyd Wadsworth, of Charleroi; two grandchildren, Brendan and Alyssa Stokes; an aunt, Danitza Uhring, of Jeannette; two nephews; and several cousins. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette. A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Father Paul A. Lisik presiding. Interment will take place in the Jeannette Catholic Cemetery, Penn Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Westmoreland County, 1235 Poplar St., Greensburg, PA 15601.

Harold V. Mayes, 85, a lifelong resident of the Kansas City, MO area passed away on January 18, 2013. Visitation will be from Noon – 1 pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 with the funeral to follow at 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harvesters. Harold was born on March 14, 1927 in Kansas City, MO. He was the son of Ralph H. and Edith M. (Warder) Mayes. Harold served in the United States Navy at the end of WWII and during the Korean War. He married Doris E. Carll on September 16, 1950 in Litchfield, IL. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Harold worked for many years as a Buyer for Kenworth Truck Company. He was active and held offices in Westmoreland Glass Society and the Heart of America Carnival Glass Society. He was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. Harold enjoyed gardening and grew Amaryllis in the home. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Mayes of Independence, MO; daughters, Laura Mayes Staehle and husband Ken of Prairie Village, KS; and Susan Mayes of Kansas City, MO; brother, Raymond Mayes of Warrensburg, MO; nieces, Trudy Barker and husband John and Jenny Grote and husband Wulf.
